M. Sc. in Botany course provides a broad background in the biology of plants – from the molecular to the organism level. Students of botany will take courses in various areas of specialization. The Department is providing its students with a broad knowledge of botany and equipping them with the tools and drive to conduct original independent research in the disciplines of plant sciences. The objective of postgraduate botany course, is to produce intellectual and proficient botanists. It is done by enhancing the abilities and skills of students for application of botany theories and expertise in the live problems faced by industry.
Thus besides having a fruitful career in teaching and research, a lot of opportunities in reputed organisations are available such as Taxonomist, Horticulturist, Geneticist, Plant biochemist, Molecular biologist, Plant Pathologist, Environmental consultant, nature conservation officer, Ecologist, Conservationist, etc. both at national and international level.Apart from that, one has opportunities at Private Sector and also a scope for self-employment.
