Programme Overview:

BPT or Bachelor of Physiotherapy is an undergraduate Academic Course in a Medical Science Field known as Physiotherapy. As per WHO, Physiotherapists assess, plan and implement rehabilitative programs that improve or restore human motor functions, maximize movement ability, relieve pain syndromes, and treat or prevent physical challenges associated with injuries, diseases and other impairments. They apply a broad range of physical therapies and techniques such as movement, ultrasound, heating, laser and other techniques. They may develop and implement programmes for screening and prevention of common physical ailments and disorders. Physiotherapy uses exercise, gait training, massage, mobilization and other physical modalities for providing treatment to those patients whose movement and function are compromised by ageing, injury, disease or environmental factors. The duration of BPT is 4½ years including internship of 6 months. Physical Therapy Programs provide core skills like manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and the application of electro physical modalities, to the prospective students. There are various Physical Therapy Colleges which offer physiotherapy courses.
