Programme Overview:

M.Tech. in Construction Engineering and Management is a a two-year full-time program that is divided into four semesters. It is aimed at shaping the enrolled students’ managerial skills in the field of engineering, and prepare them for working as Strategists who can efficiently fulfill the production, commercial, and technological demands of an organization. Candidates are imparted advanced learning in Project Management, Decision and Risk Analysis, Management Science, Information Technology, Lean Manufacturing and Optimization, Supply Chain Management, and a number of other such engineering and management skills. Also, students are exposed to practical experience by working on the real-world project, in labs requiring them to practically apply theoretical knowledge to practice. Project management lab, Construction Material Lab, and Quality Practice Labs are made available to students for practice. This program aims to train the students to become competent professionals in the field of construction engineering and project management. The program builds and enhances professional capacities in such individuals, through an academic amalgamation of theoretical coursework, seminars, and research work. The course’s objective is to develop conceptual and analytical abilities in students towards making them excellent thinkers and planners.

Career Opportunities:

Students with this specialization can work as Construction Planning Engineers, often leading the staff working towards a common goal. As Site Engineers, their job is to supervise the area where the construction has to occur, be aware of the legalities and rules pertaining to the area, undertake construction projects such as residential buildings, cooperatives, housing projects, commercial buildings, and hospitals, comply with the set budget to estimate the overall project cost and conduct negotiations regarding the elimination of unnecessary hurdles. As Quality Control Managers, they are responsible for enforcing quality control to reduce potential defects and poor workmanship and optimizing and accelerating the design and construction schedule.
